The animal was photographed on Lake Terrace Drive, just east of Painesville Township Park, around 3 p.m.

According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, the animal was seen roaming the streets and sniffing around garbage cans.

Authorities said the animal appears to be hungry and possibly sick, which could make it dangerous to residents where it roams.

While the resident who took the photo stated they believe it was a coyote, many commenters on Facebook suggested it may be a dog with mange.
