MENTOR, Ohio - A driver who was life-flighted last week after a crash involving a semi has died.
Mentor police said the crash happened at the corner of Lakeshore Boulevard and Wilson Drive around 9:30 a.m. on April 24.
The driver of what police say was a stolen car out of Parma had to be cut out of the vehicle, according to authorities. He was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment but died from his injuries on May 2.
The driver was identified as Jonathan Scott Paradiso, 33, of Cleveland.
Sergeant Paul Fiorilli, of the Mentor Police Department, said an officer ran registration on a 2006 Jeep Cherokee heading westbound on Lakeshore Boulevard.
When the registration came up as stolen, the officer initiated a traffic stop after Paradiso turned down French Boulevard.
When the officer got out of the car, Paradiso took off heading south on French Boulevard and came out from Shandle Boulevard and struck the bed of a tractor-trailer heading eastbound on Lakeshore Boulevard.
