A 2-year-old boy is being evaluated at a children’s hospital after he was found face-down in a Mentor pool on Monday. The boy’s grandmother and Mentor police performed CPR on the boy until he was transported to the hospital.
The boy was found in a pool at his grandmother’s house at about 2:06 p.m., according to a news release from the City of Mentor. The grandmother got her neighbors to call 911 while she performed CPR.
Mentor police were first on scene and continued to administer CPR until Mentor firefighters arrived to take over care, authorities said.
The child was taken to a nearby hospital and responded to advanced life support care while en route, the release states. He was then taken to a children’s hospital for care and evaluation. The child was crying and alert as of the last report, but care and evaluation will continue.
