An outbreak of norovirus may have made more than 100 people ill at the Kirtland Country Club in Willoughby over Mother's Day weekend.

According to the Lake County General Health District Health Commissioner's Office, official results won't home back for about a week. It is unknown at this time whether it was a food-borne outbreak.

The health department reports about 100 individuals and 12 employees were sick. No hospitalizations were reported.

The illness spread over May 13, 14 and 15. The country club voluntarily closed May 16, 17 and 18 for cleaning. The health department was notified on May 16 as the country club started to receive calls.

Norovirus can cause inflammation of the stomach and intestines. Most people recover in a few days, but it can be dangerous for young children or elderly people.
