The man who shot two Willoughby Hills police officers at a car dealership last year was sentenced Thursday. Timmothy Schmidt was sentenced to 44.5 years in prison and fined $10,000.

In March, Schmidt pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault, one count of resisting arrest and several firearm-related charges.

In September 2017, Schmidt became irate at the Classic BMW Dealership on SOM Center Road and shot officers Cory Planisek, 26, and Craig Anderson, 52. Employees at the dealership said he was yelling at them and appeared to be "under the influence" of something at the time of the shooting.

Both officers survived the shooting and have since gone back to work.
