MENTOR, Ohio — A Mentor bartender is turning lemons into lemon drops.

Dave was laid off and his fiance, Kyah, was furloughed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On March 27, he decided to make cocktails for his neighbors in his cul-de-sac from six feet away.

A neighbor told him he should turn this into a business, and on March 29, Dave's Quarantinis was born.

The pair is giving the profits (a $10 donation per drink) to Face Mask Workers of Ohio.

They have donated around $6,000 in meals and funding of PPE so far.

They are also buying food from local restaurants with the money and dropping off meals to police, fire departments and hospitals.

The nonprofit is delivering a late night meal to Geauga Hospital on Tuesday.

The drinks they sell are:

  • Dirty martinis
  • Peach martinis
  • Lemon drops
  • Blueberry Lemonades
  • Espressos
  • Classy Cosmos
  • LUV-tini (vodka, champagne combo)
  • CLE-tini (a Long Island iced tea)
  • Mama’Rita (tequila)
  • Green-tea-ni (whiskey)
  • La-La LavenderVery Berry

“We are 100% donation based and were advised that a license is not required as we are taking nothing for profit," Dave said. "We definitely want to make sure we are following the laws.”

They are currently delivering to Chagrin Falls and the surrounding communities. Twinsburg to Mentor are included in their delivery range. They deliver to the West Side on Wednesdays.
