MENTOR, Ohio — The City of Mentor announced Tuesday morning that the Headlands BeachFest event in July has been canceled.

The beach party that features sand sculptures, music, food and more was scheduled for July 20.

After consultation with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, they determined that beach and parking lot conditions would be unsuitable to host the event, according to the city.

The city thanked those who had planned to participate in this year’s event and hope people will attend Headlands BeachFest in 2020.

The cancellation comes following severe flooding due to heavy rains throughout June.
