WICKLIFFE, Ohio — A man has been charged after police found a loaded handgun in a backpack next to a toddler during a traffic stop in Wickliffe.

According to the Wickliffe Police Department, the traffic stop happened Thursday just before midnight.

Police said the driver of the car was a 25-year-old woman with a suspended license.

The passenger, a 29-year-old man, was charged with improper transportation of a firearm in a vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.

Police said that during a search of the vehicle they found marijuana, cocaine, a digital scale, and a backpack with a gun inside. A 1-year-old child was sitting next to the backpack.
