A Wicklifee landlord, accused of discriminating against men and the disabled, will now have to pay up.
Lawyers with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission have been suing Helen Vespe for years. On Thursday, the commission filed a motion in Lake County Common Pleas Court to force Vespe to pay more than $8,000 in fines and attorneys fees after a judge’s ruling in 2014.
Vespa, who manages apartments at 29526 Euclid Ave. in Wickliffe, is accused of admitting to agents working for the state that she prefers not to rent to men and that she does not allow service animals in her building.
Newsnet5.com’s Derick Waller went to Vespe’s home on Friday, but she declined to comment immediately.
