For the second time in as many weeks, a Willowick Subway was the target of thieves.

Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, the store was robbed at gunpoint. Surveillance video captured an armed man walking into the store and pointing a gun at the worker.

Willowick police said the gunman demanded money from the clerk but the worker was having a difficult time opening the cash register. That's because, police said, the restaurant changed its procedure after being robbed on Christmas Eve.

"At this point, the suspect discharges a firearm and shoots into the cabinet behind where the clerk was working. He then hits the clerk in the forehead with the gun and runs out," said Willowick Police Chief Brian Turner.

Police said they don't think the most recent robbery is connected to the Christmas Eve robbery. It may, however, be connected to another situation that happened in the city back in November, according to Turner.

Police are also investigating to find out if the robberies are connected to other Subway robberies that have happened in other cities.
