COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 14-year-old boy was killed in what the Lorain County Sheriff's Office is calling a “tragic accident” involving a train in Columbia Township Saturday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., deputies were called to the CSX railroad tracks between state Route 82 and Hawke Road after receiving a report that a person had been hit by a train.

Once on scene, deputies, alongside the Eaton Township Fire Department and Columbia Township Fire Department, located a 14-year-old old boy dead along the railroad tracks, according to deputies.

Preliminary information indicates that the incident was a “tragic accident,” deputies said.

The incident remains under investigation.
