2 North Ridgeville businesses caught selling alcohol to underage informant

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — Two North Ridgeville businesses were caught selling alcohol to an underage informant last week, while 16 other businesses passed compliance checks performed by police and partner agencies.

On Wednesday, August 7, an 18-year-old informant was utilized to attempt to purchase alcohol at 18 different businesses in North Ridgeville, according to a news release from police.

During the compliance checks, employees at the Giant Eagle at 34325 Center Ridge Rd. and the Snappy Gas at 8995 Avon Belden Rd. sold alcohol to the informant and were cited into the North Ridgeville Mayors Court.

The 16 other businesses that refused to sell to the informant will receive a congratulatory letter from the police. According to police, those businesses are:

Police worked with the STOP Underage Drinking Task Force, the Mental Health, Addiction and Recovery Services Board of Lorain County, and the Ohio Investigative Unit to conduct the checks, the release states.
