LORAIN, Ohio — A 23-year-old woman in Lorain died late Thursday night after her boyfriend allegedly shot her, according to police.
The incident happened around 11:34 p.m. in the 2100 block of East 29th Street. Police were dispatched to the area for a possible fight with gunshots, authorities said. A nearby officer who heard the gunshots also responded.
When police arrived, they found a man standing near the address involved with his hands raised in the air and a gun on the ground. The man told the first officer who arrived that he had just shot his girlfriend, police said.
Another officer went into the man’s apartment and found the woman unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Police have not released any identifying information regarding the man or the woman.
Possible charges have not been announced.
