Over 90 starving ducks, chickens and turkeys left out in the cold to freeze were rescued this week in Lorain County after authorities received a tip.
According to the Friendship Animal Protective League, a caller spotted two dead turkeys outside a home on the 41360 block of Webster Road in LaGrange Township and alerted authorities.
A total of 96 birds were rescued from a barn on the property. Unfortunately, some of the animals had already starved or frozen to death, officials said.

The APL, normally set up to handle dogs and cats, converted one of their dog rooms into a makeshift barn to house the birds.
Anyone who wishes to help can drop off straw, food or a financial donation to the APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria.
Charges may be forthcoming, authorities said.
