CARLISLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a voluntary manslaughter case that occurred in Carlisle Township Friday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., deputies received a call from a man stating that he had been in a fight with another man and that they were both bloody and beaten up.

Deputies arrived at the area of Mills Circle and LaGrange Road and found the caller, 37-year-old Craig Lengyel, bloody and standing in the road while a second man was found lying just off the roadway unresponsive, deputies said.

First responders began life-saving measures, but the second man was pronounced dead a short time after Carlisle Township Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene, according to deputies.

Lengyel was transported to University Hospitals in Elyria where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. After his release, he was transported to the Lorain County Jail and charged with voluntary manslaughter, deputies said.

Deputies said the identity of the victim is not being released at this time pending next of kin notification.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office.
