A man reportedly drowned while swimming with friends and family nearby Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.
A police spokesperson said they received a call around 5:02 for a swimmer in distress at Miller Road Park.
The victim, who appears to be in his early 20s, was pulled from the water but was unresponsive. He was transported to St. John Westshore and pronounced dead shortly after.
Police said the waves at the time of the incident reached nearly 3 feet tall and it appears the man died from an accidental drowning.
An official cause of death has not been determined.
The victim’s name is being withheld at this time.
