Suspect wanted for Lorain hit-skip arrested

Elyria police arrested a wanted man said to be involved in a car crash where he left behind his own daughter as well as another injured child. 

Xavier Corraliza-Vega, 32, of Lorain, fled from a crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of West 21st Street and Oakdale Avenue, Lorain County Crime Scene Identification reported.

Corraliza-Vega left his injured infant daughter behind at the scene, officials said. The infant was taken to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland for medical treatment.

Police reported Corraliza-Vega also left behind an injured 12-year-old child at the scene. The child was taken from the scene to Mercy Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Corraliza-Vega had multiple warrants out for his arrest from other jurisdictions and his driver’s license was suspended.

On Friday, Corraliza-Vega was arrested by Elyria police.
