WESTFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash in Westfield Township.
Thursday at 12:31 a.m., a one-vehicle crash occurred on Lake Road southbound at Kennard Road in Westfield Township, according to a news release from OSHP.
The vehicle, a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup, was traveling south on Lake Road when the driver, a 37-year-old man, failed to negotiate a right curve onto Kennard Road, the release states. The vehicle veered off the left side of the road and overturned, ejecting the driver. The 37-year-old man was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
The driver sustained severe injuries, OSHP officials said. He was flown to Akron City Hospital from the scene of the crash. Troopers believe alcohol to be a contributing factor to the crash.
