MEDINA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — An off-duty Medina Township police officer was arrested this week for allegedly driving drunk on St. Patrick’s Day.
Officer Clifford Nicholson Jr. was arrested by the Medina Police Department and charged with OVI, according to Medina Township police chief Travis Colonius.
Nicholson is currently on sick leave, according to authorities. The officer has been with Medina Township police since 2004.
“I am obviously disappointed with this situation. This type of conduct falls short of my expectations of a police officer. The arrest report tells one side of the story and Nicholson will have his chance to tell his side of things in court. Once I have all the facts, a determination regarding what discipline is appropriate will be made,” Colonius said.
Medina Township is about 4 miles north of Medina.
