A Medina County sheriff's deputy was struck by an ambulance in Seville on Thursday afternoon.

The deputy was responding to a medical call on the 9100 block of Friendsville Road and was hit by a Westfield Township ambulance arriving on the scene. Authorities say, contrary to other reports, the ambulance then drove through home's carport, but it did not pin the deputy to a garage wall.

The original medical call was for a male in his 70s with chest pains.

The deputy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to be okay.

Seville is a small town of about 3,000 people about 10 miles south of Medina.
