Roads have re-opened and evacuations have been lifted after a broken gas line caused the evacuation of over 100 Medina residents Friday.

The Medina Police Department asked residents to avoid the area of South Court Street and Smith Road as crews responded to the gas leak. At about 4:25 p.m., officials reported the evacuation order was lifted, and the roads around the line were re-opened.

Residents in the area were evacuated due to the gas line damage early Friday afternoon. The evacuation was one block in each direction of the intersection.

At about 4 p.m. Friday, the gas was shut off to the line and repairs were made, according to Columbia Gas officials.

The gas line was damaged by a third-party construction agency working in the area, according to Columbia Gas officials. The worker was digging and struck the gas line.

There are no reported injuries.
