A 6-year-old boy died Wednesday afternoon in Nelson Township when he was struck by a car driven by his mother.
According to Portage County Sheriff David Doak, the crash happened around 12:15 p.m. on the 10800 block of Hopkins Road on private property.
Authorities didn't say what caused the incident but said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
Nelson Township is about 45 miles southeast of Cleveland.
