Officer pays for hotel room for homeless woman

Posted

A woman who was having a rough time on her own received a little support from Brimfield police officers.

Officers responded to a call of a confused woman who appeared to be in some distress at a BP gas station, police reported.

When speaking with the woman, police said she seemed to suffer from anxiety. Officers spent time talking with her and she told them she was staying at a nearby hotel, but she did not want to go back to her room. She told police she would be okay.

According to police, a few hours later one officer drove back through the area to do a check up on the woman and found her. The officer discovered the woman really didn't have a room at a hotel--she was homeless.

Knowing that the temperatures would drop throughout the night, Officer Mike Rhodes arranged for the woman to have a hotel room and he personally paid for it to ensure her safety for the evening.
