David M. Smith, 47, was arrested on Ridge Road in Newton Falls on Friday, according to the Portage County Sheriff.
On Oct. 16, 2015, deputies responded to an incident that occurred in the 2600 block of State Route 59 in Ravenna. The residence belonged to Quortney Tolliver, 24.
Police said Tolliver was assaulted and was suffering from massive head trauma. Smith was identified as a person of interest.
Officials said the investigation was presented to the Portage County Grand Jury who issued indictments against Smith for two counts of attempted murder, one count of felonious assault, one count of aggravated robbery, and one count of aggravated burglary.
According to police, Smith is being held at Portage County Jail with no bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on April 4 at 1:15 p.m.
Officials said Smith had an extensive criminal history and is currently on parole. Smith had prior convictions for aggravated robbery, attempted robbery, attempted aggravated vehicular felonious assault, and assault.
