A man is dead after a two-car crash in Mansfield Saturday, authorities said.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 79-year-old Clarence F. Jackson, of Greenwich, was driving a Chevrolet HHR southbound on state Route 545 near Pepper Road at around 11:57 a.m.

Officials said Jackson then traveled left of center after negotiating a curve and struck a Subaru Forester, driven by a 76-year-old Ashland man, who was driving northbound on state Route 545. Jackson's car hit the other vehicle head-on.

Jackson was taken to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital, where he later died.

The 76-year-old man, as well as a 76-year-old female passenger in his car, were also injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The OSHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
