MANSFIELD, Ohio — Deputies from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that left a woman critically injured and a man dead Thursday evening in Mansfield.
Officers responded to the 1100 block of Fleming Falls Road around 9:29 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from a woman yelling that she had been shot.
When deputies arrived, they saw that the woman had been shot multiple times. She was transported to a nearby hospital, authorities said. Her condition is unknown.
While at the scene, deputies said that they located the body of man who died from an apparent gunshot wound. The man’s name has not been released.
It’s not clear if the two individuals knew each other, and the sheriff’s office hasn’t provided any additional information regarding the shootings.
In a separate incident, a sheriff’s deputy responding to the shooting was involved in a two-car crash near State Route 430 and Illinois Avenue. The investigation of that crash is being handled by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
