PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after a 35-year-old man died while driving on State Route 172 in Perry Township, located in Stark County, according to the Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
On Sunday at around 8:35 p.m., James A. Whitt, 35, of Massillon, was traveling eastbound on State Route 172 near milepost 11 in Perry Township when his 2001 GMC pick-up traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a fence before rolling over and striking a utility pole.
Whitt was pronounced dead at the scene by the Stark County Medical Examiner's Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
