LAKE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred in Lake Township Friday evening.
Around 6 p.m., a 2011 Toyota Camry was traveling east on Pontius Road when it struck 83-year-old Elena Ispas, of Uniontown, who was a pedestrian in the roadway, troopers said.
A witness told troopers that Ispas was standing still in the eastbound lane of Pontius Road when she was struck by the vehicle.
Ispas sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drugs and or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
