Canal Fulton biz investigated for prostitution

Posted

Police are investigating a Canal Fulton business for possible prostitution and human trafficking.

On Friday afternoon, police executed a search warrant at Healing Studios on Locust Street after a two-month long investigation into the business.

Authorities say the company filed a certificate of compliance with the city in December 2015 but then never obtained any other licensing or documentation to make it a legitimate business.

The company also allegedly advertised on backpage.com that they offered "Pretty Professional Asian Acupressure with candles and soft music and Amazing Asian Services with table showers…".

Officers searching the business Friday found several men inside. Two female customers were also located, one of which was arrested for prostitution. Police said it appeared both women lived inside the building.

Detectives also found $2,000 in U.S. currency in the leg of a massage table.

Xuejun Wang, a 46-year-old woman who was born in China, was charged with prostitution.

Police said they are also looking into the possibility of human trafficking.

The FBI, Canton Police Department and Stark County Drug Task Force assisted with the investigation.
