A Massillon substance abuse facility is expanding due to an increased demand for treatment services.

Wilson Hall is adding 16 male residential beds and 8,000 square feet of additional space.

According to CommQuest Services, Inc., the facility has seen a 275 percent increase in the number of people seeking services since 2008.

Because of the increased demand, the facility is experiencing wait lists that average three weeks.

The heroin epidemic that has plagued Northeast Ohio was a major reason for the need to expand.

With the expansion, CommQuest will be able to serve more than 50 men at a time.

The 90-day program at Wilson Hall serves men with moderate to severe substance abuse disorders.
