An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a crash with a wrong-way driver Thursday afternoon.
The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received several calls of a wrong-way driver near the Fulton Road exit on Interstate 77.
The crash happened Thursday at 12:01 p.m.
The officer was not injured nor was he transported to a hospital.
The wrong-way driver, who was identified as Albertus George Ridgeway, 62, of North Canton, was headed southbound in the northbound lanes of I-77 at the 111 mile-marker in Stark County.
Ridgeway was under the influence and charged with OVI, Reckless Operation, Divided Roadways and failing to wear a seatbelt.
The crash is under investigation.
