Canal Fulton is quaint city in Stark County with approximately 5,400 residents, but a serial crook is also making himself at home.
Over the last month, a thief has committed seven similar burglaries.
Police Chief Douglas Swartz said six of the crimes happened in the city's downtown historic district.
Swartz said the serial thief pried open doors in the middle of the night and stole money.
In one break-in at Canal Fulton Speak Easy, a coffee shop, a safe holding $590 was snatched.
Other businesses that have been burglarized are Deliciously Different, Warehouse on the Canal and Margaritas Mexican Restaurant.
During a burglary at a candy shop, surveillance video captured images of a man wearing a hoodie inside the store.
Surveillance from another business shows a possible getaway vehicle, a 1999 to 2005 Chevy Impala.
Swartz said business owners have been on edge with the suspect still on the loose. Burglaries are uncommon in Canal Fulton. Swartz said the city averages only about ten over an entire year.
"This isn't just something that they were expecting to happen in Canal Fulton," Swartz said. "They didn't typically have good security cameras or alarms, but now the good thing about it... they are updating their security equipment. Hopefully, we can catch this guy."
