A Perry High School student has been charged after causing a panic by telling 20 of her classmates they'd just eaten laced candy.
According to police, a male student originally brought Sour Patch Kids to school to share with friends on March 7.
Police said the candies were separated by color but didn't specify why.
A female friend of the student took the candy and handed it out to some of her classmates. Police say when the other students started eating the candy the girl told them it was laced. This set off a panic among the students, police said. Some students were transported to local hospitals.

Most of the candy was recovered and sent off to be analyzed, and the results showed it was untainted. Police said the candy the girl passed out was unable to be recovered — either because students had already eaten it or it had been disposed of.
The girl was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, a minor misdemeanor and obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.
The male student who originally brought the candy to school was not charged. Authorities said he didn't have any malicious intent in mind and only wanted to share with his fellow students.
Perry High School is located in Massillon.
