Two adults and three young children were seriously injured in a crash in Lexington Township Thursday night.

It happened on State Route 183 north of State Route 619.

Police say a 25-year-old Jawon Dixon was driving a 2002 GMC Envoy when the vehicle struck a guardrail and became airborne. While in the air, the SUV hit two trees and overturned. It came to rest on the bank of Beech Creek.

Dixon sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Lexington Fire and EMS. The 27-year-old front passenger also sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Aultman Hospital for treatment.

Three children — ages 6, 4 and 3 — in the back seat of the vehicle were transported to Akron Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors. The two adults were not wearing seatbelts.
