Two people are dead after a one-car crash on state Route 619 in Lexington Township on Friday, the Canton post of the Ohio Highway State Patrol said.

Authorities said a 2004 Chevy Impala was traveling eastbound on SR 619 -- east of McCallum Avenue -- at a "high rate of speed" just after 7 p.m. when it lost control and drove off the left side of the road.

The car struck a utility pole and multiple trees.

Authorities said 24-year-old Leland W. Wright and 28-year-old Aubrie L. White, both of Atwater, Ohio, were ejected from the car. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

State Route 619 has been reopened after being closed following the crash.

The OSHP said the deaths of Wright and White are the fourth and fifth crash-related deaths in Stark County this year.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
