16-year-old teen driver hits Stow police officer directing traffic at crash scene

STOW, Ohio — A police officer was struck by a teen driver while directing traffic at a crash site on Wednesday morning, according to the Stow Police Department.

The driver has been identified as a 16-year-old boy from Ravenna, Ohio.

Authorities said that the officer was directing traffic at an intersection following a two-vehicle crash located near Graham and Fishcreek roads when the 16-year-old crashed into him.

The officer was transported to Akron General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Stow Police Department, the officer was wearing a reflective vest when the crash occurred. Additionally, other police and EMS vehicles were at the scene with emergency lights flashing when the teen hit the officer.

Authorities said that charges are pending against the teen.
