Akron police detectives are actively looking for a 31-year-old homicide suspect who allegedly shot a man at a house party early Sunday morning.

When police were arriving on scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. they were flagged down by a 25-year-old male who was about running away from the house. The victim said he had been shot in the foot at a house on the 500 block of North Howard Street.

An unknown black male was found at the residence bleeding from the chest. He was transported to Akron City Hospital and later succumbed to his wounds. Police said the man’s identity is being held pending family notification.

The suspect, 31-year-old Antoine C. Bennett, has been charged with murder and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, police said.

Police said Bennet is a black male, standing about 5-foot-10-inches tall and weighing about 245 pounds with black medium-length hair, beard and mustache. His last known address is on East 97th Street in Cleveland. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
