Amazon, the ubiquitous online retailer, will open a new hub near the University of Akron where members of the community can pick up their orders at the secure location.
Amazon@Akron, the name of the store, was officially opened in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Amazon employees, community and student government leaders. Attendees to the ceremony also learned how to pickup and return Amazon orders at the location.
The store is located at 290 East Exchange Street in Akron, across the street from the University of Akron campus and near InfoCision Stadium. The store is one of a number of storefronts that serve the community under student apartments.
With the unveiling of the new location, Amazon hopes to offer the Akron community a safe and secure location to pick up and return Amazon orders. The company says Amazon Student and Prime members will receive free one-day pickup for orders placed by 10 p.m. on over two million items available on the online marketplace.
