Cuyahoga Falls police to bait thieves with GPS tracked packages

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - Cuyahoga Falls police are hoping to stop thieves from stealing packages off porches in their city. 

Our media partners at the Akron Beacon Journal report police have started slipping tiny GPS trackers into random items left around town as bait. 

The GPS trackers are then monitored by an app that police have access to. 

The mayor proposed the idea to the police chief and both said they hope awareness of the program will deter thieves altogether.
