A father was arrested Sunday afternoon in connection to a shooting that killed his son, according to police.
Shortly before 2 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Silvercrest Avenue in Akron for a shooting.
Police found a 45-year-old man lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's father, Leon Portis Sr., 75, of Silvercrest Avenue, was arrested and charged with murder.
He told police he got into a fight with his son before he shot him, according to the police report.
The victim's name is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of family members.
A gun was recovered from the scene.
Portis was taken to Summit County Jail. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.
