A 66-year-old man was sentenced on Friday for killing his daughter's ex-boyfriend in August of last year.
Edward Piechowiak, was sentenced to life in prison with a possibility of parole after 23 years.
On Aug. 2, 2017, police responded to an apartment building at 4260 Americana Drive, Cuyahoga Falls, around 9:30 p.m. after they received a report of shots fired.
Authorities found 32-year-old Kevin Tieraney unresponsive.

Tieraney was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had been shot twice in the back, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office. Authorities ruled his death a homicide.
Police said there weren't any signs of forced entry into Tieraney's apartment and they suspected he knew his killer. Piechowiak was later arrested by investigators.
Tieraney had a child with the daughter of his killer, according to the victim's family.
