A Kroger Marketplace store is readying for its grand opening Wednesday in Sandusky at 226 E. Perkins Avenue.
This not only means a new place to shop, it means jobs, according to Kroger manager Ken Koch, who said he is interested in watching new associates build careers with the company.
The marketplace store will sell more than groceries, it will also house a bistro, sushi area, Starbucks, medical clinic, liquor store and tasting bar that serves wine and beer -- with 12 Ohio brews on tap.
Infant clothing, home decor, small appliances and toys are also part of its offerings.
The doors of the nearly $20 million store will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday. And the first 300 customers in the 123,455 square foot facility will receive a Kroger gift card, ranging from $5 to $100 in value, and a free reusable shopping bag, according to Kroger.
Free food samplings and drawings will be held throughout opening day. And from 4 to 6 p.m. entertainment will be on hand, with balloon sculpture, face painting and caricature art, Kroger states.
