Macy's announces Stow location will be closing after 55 years

STOW, Ohio — The Macy’s in the Stow-Kent Plaza is closing, according to a Macy’s spokesperson.

A clearance sale will begin this month and will run for around eight to 12 weeks, the spokesperson said.

Macy’s issued the following statement regarding to the closing of the Stow location:

The decision to close a store is always a difficult one, but Macy’s is proud to have served the Stow community over the past 55 years, and we look forward to continuing to do so at nearby Macy’s stores including Macy’s Summit Mall, Macy’s Belden Village Mall, Macy’s Southpark Center, Macy’s University Heights Square and online at macys.com.

The department store notified all employees and those who were unable to be transferred to another nearby Macy’s location will be eligible for severance, according to the spokesperson.

An exact date for the closure of the department store has not been given at this time.
