A 41-year-old is facing multiple charges after allegedly leaving a cross with threatening messages printed on it in a resident's yard.

Michael P. Tucker was charged with menacing, criminal trespassing, and ethnic intimidation.

On April 30, a resident contacted authorities after he found the cross in his yard with the message "you're not welcome in this neighborhood, stay on your property." Another message on the cross said, "Get out now, don't mess with me, and you need to move. If you come around my property bad things will happen."

A few days prior to the resident finding the cross in his yard, he found a note in his doorway that said "move out," according to authorities. The resident also told police an unknown person had been putting trash in his front yard.

According to court records, Tucker has a prior history of criminal damaging. In December 2013 he was given six months probation.

Police said Tucker admitted to the crime, but he didn't say why he did it.
