A Barberton man was charged Tuesday in connection with a hit-skip that resulted in the death of another man.

Carl Sapper is charged with third-degree felony for failing to stop after an accident. The charge stems from a Nov. 25  in which Sapper, 38, hit and killed Scott Hollifield with a vehicle as he was walking on North Van Buren and Lincoln Avenues.

Hollifield, 27, was walking with a friend on about 10:45 p.m. on the date of the incident when he was struck by an oncoming car.

Hollifield's buddy, Joseph Dezsi, told police that Hollifield was walking along the "fog line" when he was hit by a dark-colored sedan.

The victim was found unconscious on the east side of the roadway with serious injuries. Hollifield, an Army National Guard member, later died from the injuries sustained in the hit-skip.

Sapper was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Barberton Municipal Court.
