Akron police responded to a group home early Monday morning after a man was found dead on the dining room floor.
The 63-year-old victim was found in the home in the 900 block of Nathan Street with blunt force trauma to the head, according to police.
Gary Taylor, 63, was taken into custody and charged with murder.
Taylor called 911 after the murder, yelling, "He attacked me!" when the dispatcher asked how the victim died.
"Did you shoot him?" the dispatcher asked.
"No, I had to hit him with something," Taylor said.
"What did you hit him with?"
"A stick," Taylor said.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy.
