COPLEY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A man has pleaded not guilty to the death of his mother, who was killed on Christmas Eve.

Nicholas Sibbio, 41, has been charged with murder.

Around 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 24, Sibbio showed up at the police station and said he wanted to turn himself in for the death of his mother, police said.

Copley police later responded to the 1500 block of Centerview Drive where the two shared a home and found the woman dead inside.

The woman was identified as Nancy Sibbio, 73.

Authorities said it appears she had been dead for an extended period of time.

According to police, Nicholas Sibbio told investigators that around 2:30 a.m. he got into an argument with his mother and then allegedly assaulted her, which resulted in her death.

Sibbio faced a judge on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty.
