STOW, Ohio — A Mentor woman, who struck and killed 7-year-old Vincent Baran, of Hudson, while he rode his bike, was sentenced to jail time, according to Stow Municipal Court documents.
Judge Kim Hoover sentenced Denise Ahlstrom to 90 days in jail with 60 days suspended on the condition that 15 days are served in jail and 15 days of home incarceration.
Ahlstrom was ordered to pay $750 in court costs but suspended $250 if she pays $250 plus court costs within 14 days and makes a $250 donation to a charity of the Baran family's choice.
On Feb. 2, Ahlstrom pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter, a second-degree misdemeanor, in connection to a crash that killed Vincent on Nov. 7.

At the time of the crash, Ahlstrom was attempting to turn east on West Streetsboro from a private parking lot.
Vincent, who was a student at Seton Catholic School in Hudson, died from his injuries.
Ahlstrom was also ordered to complete 365 hours of community service and was sentenced to 12 months probation, with her driver’s license suspended for 36 months.
