The Red Cross was called in for a family of seven following a house fire that broke out at 1186 Copley Road around 10:35 a.m. Saturday, according to Akron Fire department.
Authorities report a family of two adults and five children.
Firefighters battled the interior fire, which they reported broke out in the basement and was under control around 11 a.m.
Its flames were confined to the basement, but smoke damaged much of the house, authorities stated.
The fire's cause is under investigation and fire officials estimate the damage at $15,000.
Akron officials ask people to avoid the area.
