A patient at Northcaost Behavioral Healthcare is suspected of sexually assaulting another patient, police reported on Thursday.
According to the police report, on March 18 at 11:30 a.m., officers went to 1756 Sagamore Rd. to investigate a report of a rape.
Missy Craddock, deputy director of public affairs for the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, sent out this statement on Thursday:
On March 18, an allegation of a sexual assault was made at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare in Sagamore Hills Township, Ohio. The safety of our patients and staff is our top priority and this matter was promptly turned over to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for criminal investigation. We also are conducting a review to identify the cause and determine next steps to prevent any future incidents. A full administrative investigation will occur after the highway patrol investigation has concluded.
Police said this is a pending criminal investigation that was handed over to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
